Snow and Ford Broncos generally don’t mix, but this one is a different story involving the two.

Auto shows generally have interesting exhibits inside the convention center – or off the grounds, depending on the venue. However, this year’s Buffalo Auto Show has something to show before attendees even enter the show area, thanks to artist Eric Jones.

For this year’s event, Eric Jone has sculpted a life-size replica of a Ford Bronco out of snow. It’s located just outside the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center and sparked the interest of auto show attendees and local media outlets.

According to an interview with WKBW, Jones’ work took five days to complete. He said that the Ford Bronco ice sculpture was the most elaborate carving he had ever done.

“By far the most intricate carving I’ve ever made … because it’s 360 degrees and I wanted to put it at an angle so it looks like it’s going downhill towards the convention center,” says Jones.

Eric Jones is a caricature artist based in New York. according to her website, he’s been doing it professionally for 21 years, collecting up to 100,000 images of people at live events, and another 70,000 from photos. In live broadcasts, he uses two media: traditional and digital. Rates vary depending on the medium, although we don’t know the cost of the life-size Ford Bronco ice sculpture he made for this year’s Buffalo Auto Show.

Jones says he likes making temporary sculptures. Unlike other sculptors who wanted their work to be preserved as much as possible, he wanted things to decay, drift away, and in this case, melt.

“There’s something beautiful about art that’s transient — there’s a buzz and an energy to come and see it and enjoy it,” says Jones. WKBW.
