It looks like we have at least another year with the Subaru Crosstrek in its current form. Subaru has released information for the model year 2023 crossover, which reads exactly like the 2022 brochure. There are a few notable exceptions, namely with the price and new trim levels.
First, the bad news. All current Crosstrek trim levels cost $550 more for 2023. That increase comes from two areas – the standard $500 price increase and the $50 Subaru destination cost increase. As a result, the cheapest Base Crosstrek 2023 trim starts at $24,870, compared to $24,320 last year. On the other hand, Crosstrek Limited’s MSRP is $30,720. All decorated, it can go up to more than $33,000. The Crosstrek Hybrid remains as the flagship of the line, starting at $38,070.

Now for some good news. All trim levels from 2022 are back, and they’re joined by a new Crosstrek Special Edition that sits between the Premium and Sport trims. This is the only way to get the new color from Subaru’s Desert Khaki, which is returning to the lineup for the first time in years. The SE also gets you custom dark gray 17-inch wheels and a plethora of black exterior trim for nice contrast. Inside is more black, paired with red trim on the seats and stitching. As for equipment, it comes standard with everything you get in the Premium trim level, plus an 8.0-inch infotainment screen.

The powertrain options remain the same. That means a 152-horsepower (113-kilowatt) 2.0-liter four-cylinder in Base, Premium, and SE trims. The Sport and Limited trims get a larger 2.5-liter four-pot that produces 182 hp (136 kW). The CVT is offered at all trim levels, though Base and Premium Crosstreks come standard with the six-speed manual. All-wheel drive is standard across the board. That includes the Crosstrek Hybrid, which still offers a 2.0-liter engine with electric power for a combined output of 148 hp (110 kW).
We caught a disguised Crosstrek on the road in late 2021 with some obvious visual changes. With the current generation model debuting in 2017, we thought a new Crosstrek might arrive for the 2023 model year. Now it looks like Subaru will wait until at least 2024 before revealing a new version.
