Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance F1 Edition Debuts With Complicated Name

The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 SE Performance has only been out for a few months and has already got a second special version. After the €218,674 Edition was introduced in early February, you can now spend even more on the company’s most powerful production car. (until AMG One arrives). The F1 edition costs €222,815 in Germany and comes in an appearance package that adds €23,800 to the car’s base price of under €200,000.

True to its name, this version takes over from F1 where the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team won’t be successful in 2022. What do you get for an optional display package for almost the same price as the base Volkswagen T-Roc? For starters, the 21-inch forged wheels feature a dual five-spoke design with a matte black finish and red rim flanges to echo the alloy used by the official FIA F1 Medical Car.

For your money’s worth, AMG delivers an aero package that includes a larger front splitter, extra air deflector elements, fixed rear aerofoil, and a tweaked diffuser. This is more than just for show as this component has been developed in wind tunnels to bring tangible benefits by sharpening handling at high speeds while reducing drag.

Coated with luxurious Alpine Gray paint from the Manufacturing catalog, the AMG GT 63 SE Performance F1 Edition also gets various glossy black accents. It’s included with not one, but two Night Packs, which give the badge a dark look also applied to the window surrounds and exhaust liners. Mercedes has also blackened the grille and some other exterior trim while the fuel filler cap has a silver chrome look.

An official picture of the interior hasn’t been provided by Affalterbach’s peeps, but we do know the Nappa leather seats come in black with red contrast stitching. There’s more vibrant color to the seat belts, steering wheel, and carbon fiber trim. Rounding out the visual tweaks are the unique floor mats and exclusive Edition badges.

As a final upgrade, this monster PHEV with 843 horsepower and 1,084 pound-feet (1,470 Newton-meters) of torque is equipped with an AMG-branded indoor car cover emblazoned with the F1 logo.
