2022 Cadillac Escalade Loses Rear Window Express-Up Function

[ad_1]

The ongoing global shortage of microchips has claimed another feature. Cadillac Society have learned that on April 25th production, a new 2022 Cadillac Escalade unit is being built without the rear window “express” function.

Express windows are activated with a simple pull of the window switch instead of requiring the button to be held in the up position until the window is completely rolled up. Despite removing the express window functionality for the rear windows, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade retains the express and down functionality for the front windows. Apart from that, the express-down feature remains intact for the rear window.

At this time, it is unclear when express functionality will be returned to the rear windows of the Cadillac Escalade, or whether buyers of affected vehicles will receive credit. It’s also unclear if the feature can be re-installed in the future once the microchip shortage situation allows.

It’s worth noting that the parking assist feature is also limited on the 2022 Cadillac Escalade, along with certain rear seat media features. It’s currently unclear whether any of these features will return for the model year 2023 full-size luxury SUV.

As a reminder, the 2022 Cadillac Escalade represents the second model year of the fifth generation of a full-size luxury SUV. It is offered with two engine options. The first is standard, a naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 engine (production code L87), which makes 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The second is the 3.0L I6 turbodiesel (production code LM2), making 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Both engine options are connected to a Cadillac 10-speed automatic transmission that drives either the rear wheels or all four wheels via an optional 4WD system.
