2023 Audi A1 Allstreet Replaces A1 Citycarver As Jacked-Up Supermini

It was less than three years ago when Audi decided to give the A1 Sportback a split personality by turning it into a pint-sized pseudo-crossover. Available only in select markets, the high-riding Citycarver is getting a new name for the 2023 model year. Going forward, it will be called Allstreet. Four Rings did not provide details on what prompted them to revise the moniker, but we know that the name change had an immediate effect.

Ingolstadt-based Marque made no other modifications to the adventurous A1 as it brought powertrains, trim levels and options from the defunct Citycarver. Prices also remain unchanged, meaning this model starts at €23,200 in Germany. A quick glance at the configurator at Deutschland already reveals an updated name for the tough A1 Sportback which is available strictly with front-wheel drive.

Sold exclusively with a petrol engine, the Audi A1 Allstreet 2023 comes with a choice between a 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine and a larger 1.5-liter four-cylinder unit. Dubbed the “25 TFSI,” the base model had to settle for just 95 hp and 175 Nm (128 lb-ft). Followed by the “30 TFSI” with the same three-cylinder engine, but its power reaches 110 hp and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft). Then there are the four “35 TFSI” pots with 150 hp and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of power.

All three powertrains are mated as standard with a manual gearbox, but a more powerful three-cylinder configuration and four-cylinder engine can optionally be linked to the seven-speed S Tronic automatic. Fun fact – the base A1 Allstreet has a nifty five-speed manual while the other two come with a six-speed gearbox.

As previously reported, the A1 will be discontinued at the end of this generation. Tighter emissions regulations forced Audi to ditch its smallest car. The VW Group said some time ago it would still have a well-covered B-segment thanks to the Skoda Fabia, SEAT Ibiza and VW Polo. The Czech model recently transitioned to a new generation while the other two were given a mid-cycle facelift. It’s unclear whether Audi will bother to give the A1 Sportback an update before discontinuing the model later this decade.

The A1 isn’t the only little Audi on its deathbed as the Q2 baby crossover is also going back.
