2023 Range Rover Sport Teased Ahead Of May 10 Debut

We’ve seen Land Rover test the next-generation Range Rover Sport many times over the last few years. The first prototype of this performance SUV was spotted in February 2020 and now, more than two years later, the model is finally ready to launch. The British automaker has now teased the new Range Rover Sport and confirmed it will be shown to the world in its full glory on May 10 this year.

It seems that Land Rover is preparing the right show for the RR Sport’s debut. The manufacturer said the “global disclosure will include a dramatic debut” for the model, which will “continue the bold exploits of its predecessor by undertaking unique challenges for its launch.” This sounds pretty vague, though we might have an idea of what Land Rover was really talking about.

The Range Rover Sport has previously set several different speed records, including one in Hunan Province, China. Back in March 2018, the terrifying Tianmen Mountain road-climbing performance SUV famous for its grueling 99 turns, set a new unofficial record. If our assumptions are correct, the new RR Sport will probably debut another speed record. After all, Land Rover promises “adrenaline-filled revelations.”

The automaker isn’t ready to announce anything concrete yet but says that the new Range Rover Sport “has been redefined, effortlessly blending an unmistakable presence, unrivaled on-road capability, and the latest state-of-the-art digital and chassis technologies.” We expect serious performance improvements compared to the previous model and we would be very interested to learn what is hidden under the hood.

According to a recent report, the new RR Sport will be offered with a choice of electrified six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, depending on the market, plus a more powerful plug-in hybrid powertrain. The tallest SVR model will likely receive a version of BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with around 600 horsepower (447 kilowatts). We’ll be learning more about two weeks from now, so stay tuned.
