Ford F-150 Lightning Sold Out For 2022 Before Production Begins

When Ford announced an electric version of the nation’s bestseller last year, it was a big deal. It’s the first electric F-150, and it’s given the name Lightning – a moniker the Blue Oval has used before, albeit for a completely different application.

People quickly recorded their orders for the F-150 Lightning, so much so that nearly 200,000 orders came in. And to date, the 2022 F-150 Lightning has sold out, with Ford taking no orders for electricity. truck for the current model year.

This is good news for Ford but for customers who want the truck but don’t have the opportunity to make a reservation, it’s now a choice between biting the dealer’s markup or waiting up to 10 months for the next model year.

Ford will start production of the 2022 F-150 Lightning in a few days on April 26, 2022. Blue Oval wants to build 150,000 F-150 EVs at the Rouge Complex in Dearborn. A special section of the factory is devoted to all-electric trucks.
