Thanks to a video posted by Edd China on YouTube, we got a glimpse of one of the weirdest custom cars ever built. This unique building was commissioned by a lawnmower robot company called Friendly Robotics to create a walkable 3 to 1 replica of one of their robotic lawnmowers. The resulting build is a flashy special vehicle that is sure to catch onlookers and help advertise the use of robotic lawnmowers.
Friendly Robotics wants to generate interest in their robotic lawn mower offering. They took a page straight from Oscar Mayer Weinermobile’s book and decided to get in touch with the team at Cummfy Banana to build a mobile robotic lawnmower. This quirky building was recently discovered by Reddit R/WeirdWheels fans where they found a YouTube video of Edd China from 2011.
According to Edd China’s YouTube video description, the rideable robotic lawnmower has three parallel seats like the new McLaren F1 and Gordon Murray T.50 Hypercar, Land Rover-derived V8 and a 4-speed VW Type 2 transmission. To achieve the look of a robotic lawn mower, the customer’s tubular chassis is used in conjunction with the customer’s fiberglass body panels. The video description explains that a $4,500 custom windshield was shattered when a truck carrying gravel overturned and spilled its destructive payload right in front of a robotic lawnmower.
The chassis was eventually converted into Edd China’s record-breaking Chasie Lounge which is also known as the world’s fastest sofa according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
Today’s Friendly Robotics are called Robomow and they are still selling their newest robotic lawn mower to customers looking to automate the lawn mowing process. Starting in 1995 Robomow has continued to push the boundaries of robotic lawnmower technology since the debut of the first consumer-grade robotic lawnmower in 1998. This innovative machine sold 4,000 units between 1998 and 2001. Today this innovative company continues to push the boundaries of robotics. . lawn mower even without a large scale robotic lawn mower promo car.
